Newer cars manufactured after 1996 have an on-board computer called OBD (On-Board Diagnostic) system. All of the vehicle’s sensors are connected to the OBD. When it detects out of range data or a malfunctioning sensor, it saves an error code and lights up on your dashboard, such as “check engine” light.
The check “engine light” is a warning signal to let you know you need to bring your car to an auto repair shop to check it out.
Engine diagnostics can help detect problems early before they become big problems.
At Country Tire & Auto we can read the error codes to determine what is causing the “check engine” light to come on. It could be related to your vehicles smog control system, or it could be related to your engine operating safely and inefficiently.
